Who We Are
The WWUSD Booster Club is an independent, non-profit organization that supports robotics programs district wide in the Whitewater Unified School District. This includes High School, Middle School, and Elementary School robotics teams that compete in various in FIRST Competitions.
We are families, friends, district staff, and local volunteers who are passionate about fostering student engagement and leadership in STEM through robotics.
Whitewater is unique among many other districts in our area for our flourishing robotics program. Our district, in part through this Booster Club, supports FIRST LEGO League teams at our Elementary and Middle Schools; a FIRST Tech Challenge team at the Middle School; and a FIRST Robotics Competition team at the High School.
Students gain experience in engineering, artificial intelligence, coding, game-based learning, mechanical and electrical design, leadership, public speaking and advocacy, as well as business skills through their participation in these robotics teams.
Robotics also allows students to not just develop a love for design and construction, but also connect with others who share their passions.
This Booster Club engages in the following activities to support the team:
Fundraise! Robotics is an expensive sport.
The high school team has to raise a minimum of $60,000 dollars a year to design, build, wire, program, and compete with their robot.
Each elementary LEGO robotic kit is $500.
We are hoping to establish a robotics scholarship for graduating seniors on the high school team to continue their schooling in STEM.
We also help support a foundation started by two generous alums. The long term goal of the foundation account is to generate enough interest income to fund district robotics programs and provide seed money for other local teams to get established.
Encourage student and community engagement in robotics through organizing and supporting community events
Organize and support team events such as dinners, team banquets, and socials
Expand the teams’ network of supporters
Mentor children involved in the sport
